Vote for your choice of Top Disinformation Conspiracy Theory of 2008
What a year it has been. What with the end of the longest U.S. presidential election in history you might be pretty burned out on voting, but I thought this would be as good a time as any to throw out a poll to decide what the greatest disinformation conspiracy theory of 2008 was.
They recently ran with a similar idea over in England. You can see the results here.
So what do you think? 2008 saw several stories that just wouldn’t seem to go away.
Perhaps the biggest target of disinfo and conspiracy theory this year was Barack Obama. All during this downright vicious campaign, rumors kept surfacing via spam email and sometimes even implied in official political commercials that Obama was the Anti-Christ, a muslim, not an American citizen, a terrorist, or some combination of all of these things.
The ever popular “9-11 was an Inside Job” conspiracy theories show no sign of ever going away.
Rumors of FEMA concentration camps on U.S. soil for imprisonment and elimination of political prisoners date back years, but the rumors continue and show no signs of letting up anytime soon.
Theories about the Illuminati New World Order being behind it all have been circulating for awhile now and seem to have an extended shelf life.
Also popular this year were stories about the impending plot to microchip the entire population.
And last but not least, Bigfoot was in the news again when a couple of guys in Georgia claimed to have his body on ice.
